A lifelong horseman, Russell was born on a dairy farm in southeastern Pennsylvania. Jones, he founded Walnut Green and has been active in the bloodstock business ever since. Walnut Green offered Russell the perfect opportunity to fuse his interest and love of horses with his business background. With this combination, Russell has enabled Walnut Green to become an industry leader both regionally and nationwide. For the past quarter century, Russell’s commitment to the thoroughbred industry has been unwavering as evidenced by the following:

Jan began her horse career at age 3 when she began riding. She worked throughout high school for various breeding farms in the Northeast and took her first full-time position with Lana Lobell Standard Bred Farm in Bedminster, New Jersey. After 4 years in New Jersey, she moved to Pennsylvania where she worked under Joe Thompson with Whitehorse Farms, what would become what is known today as Win-Bak Farm in Maryland (one of the largest standard-bred farms in the country). She spent 10 years with Mr. Thompson before turning her attention to thoroughbreds. Jan spent 5 years as Farm manager for Dr. Tom Bowman's farm in Maryland. Her love of horses, and her hard-working mentality landed her a position at Northview Stallion Station where she handled running the broodmare division. She spent 5 years at Northview before joining the Walnut Green team in July of 2006. Jan oversees the care and health of all the horses here at Walnut Green.

The daughter of legendary blacksmith, Jack Anderson, Marcia has also spent her lifetime around horses. She began work at Walnut Green as Russell’s secretary in 1982 and has been an integral part of the company ever since. She assists clients with the registration process and keeps them informed of important deadline dates. She works closely with the sales companies regarding entries, pedigree updates and any other requirements for a successful sale. In short, Marcia addresses all administrative needs and keeps Walnut Green clients informed throughout the process of selling their horses as well as keeping them abreast of current family racing results.
