Beginning with the selection of a mare and choice of a mating and continuing to the final step of entering the right sale and positioning a horse to sell optimally, Walnut Green offers clients a full range of bloodstock services. As an agent, Walnut Green has extensive experience purchasing mares, weanlings, yearlings, two-year olds, and racing prospects at public auction and has been a leading buyer for more than two decades.We organize all veterinary procedures, including biomechanical and cardiovascular evaluations. We are in close contact with prominent breeding farms and leading trainers at racetracks worldwide to gather the information we need to buy and sell top racing and breeding prospects.
Planning matings takes extensive knowledge of pedigrees, conformation, and market sentiment. Walnut Green has the necessary background in these areas to offer clients sensible advice about which stallions are appropriate for their mares.We also supervise breeding and oversee foaling of mares on our farm.Every year, we raise many foals that are born both at Walnut Green and at other farms.
We provide individual guidance during the pre-sales preparation period for horses that are raised on our farm as well as on other farms, ensuring that our clients horses arrive at the sales in optimum condition. Our sales staff has the necessary combination of horsemanship and sales experience to sell horses successfully. Walnut Green will weigh the market sentment and assess demand for each horse in order that our clients may set a reasonable reserve and get a favorable result. After weighing this demand, Walnut Green helps our clients establish a reserve price. From start to finish, Walnut Green will be there to assure a successful conclusion.

Consultation
In 2003, Mr. William K. Warren came to Mark Reid and requested Mark take over the management of his stable. In this stable, there was an injured three year old colt named Saint Liam who needed direction. Mark guided his career, which, in 2005, culminated with his being named Champion Handicap Horse, as well as Horse of the Year. When Roy and Pat Chapman’s Someday Farm needed a trainer for their youngsters, it was Mark Reid who suggested and made the connection with trainer John Servis, resulting in 2002′s undefeated Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, Smarty Jones. Our partnerships differ from most in that we charge no ongoing fees and attempt to match up each of our partners with others who share the same interests.
